Parties To The Nice Agreement

The list of contracting parties to the Nice agreement is regularly updated. The Nice classification is based on a multilateral treaty managed by WIPO. This treaty, concluded in Nice (France) on 15 June 1957, is referred to as the „Nice Agreement on the International Classification of Goods and Trademark Registration Services.“ This classification is commonly referred to as the „Nice Classification.“ The Nice Agreement is open to States Parties to the „Paris Convention on the Protection of Industrial Property.“ In order to keep the Nice classification up to date, it is constantly revised. A new edition is published every five years and, since 2013, a new version of each issue is published every year. The review will be carried out by the expert committee set up as part of the Nice Agreement. All States Parties to the Convention are members of the Expert Committee. Owners must also group goods or services according to the Nice classification for registrations when they are renewed. The use of the list of products and services previously authorized when submitting a new or amended application ensures that these conditions are considered acceptable by the Agency. Therefore, using this list can reduce the need for office action, which can lead to a faster review of your application.
